Thanos was power-hungry and wanted to reach new heights by taking shortcuts. So, instead of working hard and letting go of his substance abuse habit, the former rapper decided to bet his entire earnings on the Dalmatian cryptocurrency. The cryptocurrency was promoted by Lee Myung-gi, a popular YouTuber who also took part in the games. And well, let thousands of people, Thanos also lost his life savings in the cryptocurrency scam.

Right from the get-go, fans started hating Thanos for showing his egotistical and narcissistic side. He always took advantage of people to move one step ahead, and in fact, he took pleasure in killing people. Thanos was already an unsympathetic character, but the substance he was consuming at the games made him even more evil and inhumane. When the time arrived for voting, Thanos had a key part to play; however, instead of voting for stopping the game, Thanos pushed for the game’s continuation.

While many fans wonder and hope for Thanos to be alive in Squid Game Season 3, the reality is that the character is dead. Thanos always hated Lee Myung-gi for that cryptocurrency scam, and when the latter decided to choose the faction that wants to stop the games, Thanos got tilted. He initiated a fight with the other faction in the bathroom and specifically targeted Myung-gi.

However, instead of getting choked to death, Myung-gi decided to stab Thanos in the neck with a fork spoon. In the end, Thanos was lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from the neck. While many fans believe that Thanos could have survived the entire ordeal, this scenario is highly unlikely. It’s rare in Squid Game for a character to return after getting axed, and that’s what happened with Thanos.

I’m gonna kill half of humanity with my raps, bam! – Thanos

The hope of the Squid Game employees treating Thanos is like shooting an arrow in the dark. Instead of treating the guy, the employees would prefer pulling out his organs for the black market. So, even though there are rumors of Thanos’ return in Squid Game Season 3, it’s unlikely that the character will still be alive.

If the creators do go for some fan service, the most sensible thing to do would be to bring the character back through a flashback. Either that, or we might see Myung-gi taking a psychological hit after getting traumatized for killing Thanos. If that happens, we might see Myung-gi having a nervous breakdown and seeing Thanos appearing in his visions.

That’s the only sensible direction to take if the creators intend to bring back Thanos in Season 3 of Squid Game. On the other hand, resurrecting the character just for fan service would be an injustice to Squid Game’s overall theme. So, let’s hope they don’t opt for the latter option.

Regardless, Season 3 of Squid Game is set to arrive on Netflix on June 27, so we are only a few days away from getting all the answers.
